What is good for us and what is not is called, in Tantrik Practice, Discernment. It says if you are unconsciously controlled by your ego, you will suffer!
But, to suffer is not unproductive, as it ultimately leads to greater awareness nee consciousness.
As we experience, both the good and the bad, we begin to evolve, learning what is important (non-material things) and not important (material things).
The ego, as we have so often said, is not to be destroyed, but subsumed, as C.D. Willis says (TANTRA ILLUMINATED), ´purified and expanded until it is absorbed into a greater sense of ourselves as Divine Consciousness!´ The I AM as everything, and everything as the I AM! ´This is the state of purno´ham vimansa the perfect I Consciousness!´
Is there such a thing as free will? It is an illusion the ego creates (Maya). To combat, there is something else in play, enticing us to dissolve the Veil and see the truth, that we are not separate from, but a microcosm of the true reality, Divine Consciousness (some call God)!
When experiencing a `storm,´ tossed and turned by the `slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune, tie yourself to the mast,´ and become aware of awareness, what life is all about. All `storms´subside and calm prevails. But, no storm, no calm. No calm, no storm!
